Tra Que Village Garden Tour & Cooking Class
Experience rural Vietnamese farming life with a visit to the charming Tra Que Village, named after the sweetly scented vegetables that grow there. Start with a leisurely bicycle ride (or optional coach transfer), then stroll around the organic vegetable garden and learn about the history of the village. Meet a local farmer and help prepare, fertilize, water and sow the land, as well as pick vegetables. Enjoy a foot soak before getting ready to prepare lunch at a local restaurant inside the village. Here you’ll help prepare tam huu spring rolls and banh xeo, a local crispy pancake popular in Vietnam

Day 1
Depart on your overnight flight to Hanoi.
Day 2
Hanoi – Arrive and transfer to hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 3
Hanoi – Take a city tour to visit Ho Chi Minh President Stilt House, Temple of Literature, the Lake of the Restored Sword and Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum. Tour the Old Quarter by cyclo (a three-wheeled bicycle taxi) and see a traditional water puppet show. Welcome dinner tonight. (B/D)
Day 4
Hanoi – Explore the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long as well as the beautiful pagodas and ancient buildings that tell the legacy of Hanoi’s history. Afternoon at leisure. (B)
Day 5
Halong Bay – Transfer to the marina to board your two-night Orchid Classic Cruise discovering Halong Bay. Explore Da Chong, Con Vit and Gia Luan. Spend a tranquil night anchored in quiet waters. (B/L/D)
Day 6
Lan Ha Bay – Begin with a tai chi lesson on the sundeck, followed by cycling through rice fields in Viet Hai Fishing Village. Kayak and swim at Ba Trai Dao (Three Peaches). Return for dinner onboard. (B/L/D)
Day 7
Hoi An – Choose to kayak to Ao Ech, then enjoy lunch while cruising back to Tuan Chau Marina. Disembark and fly to Da Nang. Upon arrival, transfer to Hoi An. Enjoy a group dinner this evening. (B/L/D)
Day 8
Hoi An – Explore Tra Que Village for a farm-to-table experience where you’ll help garden, then learn to prepare tam huu spring rolls and banh xeo pancakes. Afternoon at leisure. (B/L)
Day 9
Hoi An – Take a fishing boat tour, paddle traditional bamboo basket boats and explore wartime waterways. Lunch at a local restaurant. (B/L)
Day 10
Hoi An – Visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, temples and merchant homes. Experience the Hoi An Memories Show followed by a local dinner. (B/D)
Day 11
Ho Chi Minh City – Fly to Ho Chi Minh City, then take a guided city tour visiting Notre Dame Cathedral, the Opera House, city hall, post office, Reunification Palace, War Remnant Museum and Ben Thanh Market. Dinner at a local restaurant. (B/D)
Day 12
Ho Chi Minh City –See the Mekong Delta by speedboat. After lunch, visit a pagoda and the Cao Dai Temple. (B/L)
Day 13
Ho Chi Minh City – Take another speedboat to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Enjoy lunch by the river, then return to Ho Chi Minh for a farewell dinner onboard La Perle De L’Orient. (B/L/D)
Day 14
Free time until your transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (B)

Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. Day 1

Hanoi
Upon arrival, meet your tour director and transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day is at leisure.
Day 3
Hanoi
After breakfast, meet your guide for a city tour. Hanoi is a mix of East and West yet holds on tightly to its heritage. Visit Ho Chi Minh President Stilt House, Temple of Literature and the Lake of the Restored Sword. Stop for a photo at the Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum, tour the Old Quarter on a cyclo (a three-wheeled bicycle taxi), then enjoy a traditional water puppet show with roots in northern Vietnam. Enjoy a welcome dinner hosted at a local restaurant. (B/D)
Day 4
Hanoi
Meet your guide after breakfast and drive to visit Thang Long Citadel. Explore the massive complex of architectural works which were built through the many reigns of Vietnamese emperors. Visit the Doan Mon Gate, Kinh Thien Palace and Hau Lau House. Explore the bunker base in House D67 which was used as the head office of North Vietnam’s Army in the American War. Continue to the archaeologic relics of 18 Hoang Dieu before a short walk to the Cua Bac Gate with a view of the whole citadel. Your afternoon is at leisure. (B)
Day 5
Halong Bay
Drive from Hanoi to Halong Bay, where limestone karst mountains rise from emerald waters. At Tuan Chau Marina Port, board your two-night Orchid Classic Cruise. Enjoy lunch in the luxury restaurant as the cruise passes stunning islets like Da Chong, Con Vit and Gia Luan. Kayak or relax at the beach in the afternoon, then admire the sunset before dinner is served onboard. Spend a tranquil night anchored in quiet waters. (B/L/D)
Day 6
Lan Ha Bay
Begin your day with a rejuvenating tai chi lesson on the sundeck with complimentary tea and coffee. After breakfast, transfer by boat to Viet Hai Fishing Village to cycle through rice fields and visit an ancient local house made from straw, mud and bamboo. In the afternoon, travel to Ba Trai Dao (Three Peaches) which is popular for kayaking and swimming thanks to its pristine, secluded beach. Return for dinner, then spend your free time lounging on deck or trying your hand at night squid fishing. (B/L/D)
Day 7
Hoi An
After breakfast, you can choose to kayak to Ao Ech area, a hidden gem of Lan Ha Bay. Back onboard Orchid Cruise, enjoy lunch while cruising back to Tuan Chau Marina. Disembark and transfer by motor coach to Noi Bai Airport for your flight to Da Nang. Upon arrival, drive to your hotel in Hoi An. Remainder of the day is at leisure, followed by a local dinner. Day 8
Hoi An
After breakfast, enjoy your Extraordinary Experience at Tra Que Village. You can choose to bicycle or drive to explore this charming village centred around organic vegetable farming. Roll up your sleeves and join the gardening before heading to lunch at a local village restaurant where you’ll help prepare tam huu spring rolls and banh xeo crispy pancakes. Day 9
Hoi An
Today’s adventure is a fishing boat tour to Cam Thanh water coconut village where you’ll learn about daily life for Vietnamese fishermen and their families. Next, cruise the Cua Dai River to experience fishing with a traditional round or cast net. Learn how to paddle Vietnam’s unique bamboo basket boats. Explore the waterways used in wartime and appreciate the extreme conditions endured by soldiers of both sides. Lunch at a local restaurant. (B/L)
Day 10
Hoi An
After breakfast, meet your guide and explore the beauty of ancient Hoi An. Its mix of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and European influences make this ancient town a paradise for photographers. In the old quarter, narrow winding streets lead past ochre-hued stone houses, lantern-filled shops and colourful fishing boats. Take in iconic sights such as the Japanese Covered Bridge as well as centuries-old temples and merchant homes. This evening, enjoy the breathtaking Hoi An Memories Show followed by dinner at a local restaurant. (B/D)
Day 11
Ho Chi Minh City
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a quick city tour where skyscrapers contrast with incense-infused temples and bustling motorcycles. Visit landmarks like Notre Dame Cathedral, the Opera House, city hall and the post office. See the historic Reunification Palace and learn about the Indochina War at the War Remnant Museum. Explore Ben Thanh Market. Dinner is at a local restaurant. (B/D)
Day 12
Ho Chi Minh City
Today you’ll depart to Bach Dang Wharf for a speedboat ride through narrow canals to the verdant Mekong Delta, known as the Delta of Nine Dragons. Visit a bustling riverside market filled with local curiosities and tropical fruits. Drift through the shaded canals of Thu Thua and visit a quaint Mekong village. Sample coconuts and Mekong whisky at a traditional farmhouse. Walk to a rural Vietnamese house where three generations live. After lunch, visit a special pagoda that contains an orphanage run by Buddhist monks and the Cao Dai Temple. (B/L)
Day 13
Hoi Chi Minh City
Start your morning early with speedboat ride that spans city sprawl to lush jungle. Enjoy breakfast and Vietnamese iced coffee (Ca phe sua da) as your guide explains rural traditions and riverbank life. At the Cu Chi Tunnels, watch a brief introductory video then explore the site’s weapons exhibits, authentic Viet Cong tunnels, underground bunkers, firing range and more. Try local cassava root that sustained Viet Cong fighters for years. Enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch by the river, then return to Ho Chi Minh. Tonight, savour a farewell dinner on board La Perle De L’Orient, a three-storey wooden yacht. (B/L/D)
