Activity Level: Active. Dive into Mexico’s cultural and natural splendours on a 14-day tour featuring historic sites, vibrant cities and serene coastal escapes.
Day 1
Mexico City – Depart from Toronto or Winnipeg to Mexico City. Upon arrival, meet your tour director and driver. Welcome dinner this evening. (D)
Day 2
Mexico City – Explore Mexico City’s historic centre, Metropolitan Cathedral and National Palace. Continue along Paseo de la Reforma to Chapultepec Park, visiting the former imperial castle. After lunch, discover the National Anthropology Museum. Enjoy a private cooking class, where you'll prepare traditional Mexican dishes with a professional chef. (B/D)
Day 3
Mexico City – Journey north to Teotihuacan to explore the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. Stroll the Avenue of the Dead and visit the Shrine of Guadalupe, honouring Mexico's deep spiritual heritage. (B/L)
Day 4
Oaxaca – Leave Mexico City, passing snow-capped volcanoes en route to Puebla, a UNESCO site known as the “City of Angels.” Visit historic landmarks before arriving in Oaxaca, famed for its picturesque colonial charm. (B/D)
Day 5
Oaxaca – Take a walking tour of Oaxaca, including Santo Domingo Church. Explore bustling markets and visit a women’s cooperative, preserving the traditional art of crafting alebrijes. (B)
Day 6
Salina Cruz – Visit Monte Alban, an ancient city with historical tombs and plazas. Continue to the scenic town of Salina Cruz on the Pacific Coast. (B)
Day 7
San Cristobal – Travel to Chiapas, exploring Sumidero Canyon by boat. Spot wildlife along the Grijalva River before heading to San Cristobal de las Casas. (B)
Day 8
San Cristobal – Discover the highlands of Chiapas, visiting the Indigenous villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan. Enjoy free time in San Cristobal’s vibrant markets. (B)
Day 9
Palenque – Discover the highlands of Chiapas, visiting the Indigenous villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan. Enjoy free time in San Cristobal’s vibrant markets. (B)
Day 10
Campeche – Tour the archaeological site of Palenque, a key Mayan city. Continue to Campeche for a panoramic tour of its colonial architecture. (B)
Day 11
Merida – Visit Uxmal, a UNESCO site, to explore the Pyramid of the Magician and more. Arrive in Merida for a tour of the “White City.” (B)
Day 12
Cancun – Explore Chichen Itza, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, then continue to Cancun. (B/L/T)
Day 13
Cancun – Indulge in a day of relaxation on Cancun’s beaches. End the day with a farewell dinner. (B/D)

Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)

Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Day 1
Mexico City
Depart from Toronto or Winnipeg on your flight to Mexico City. Upon arrival, meet your tour director and driver. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner. (D)
Day 2
Mexico City
Embark on a full-day city tour of Mexico City. See the historic centre, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the National Palace. Continue along the picturesque Paseo de la Reforma to Chapultepec Park, home to the castle once inhabited by the ill-fated Emperor Maximilian. After lunch, visit the globally acclaimed National Anthropology Museum. Tonight is your Extraordinary Experience, a private cooking class with a local chef. Together, you’ll learn how to prepare traditional Mexican dishes and enjoy them for your dinner. (B/D)
Day 3
Mexico City
Today you’ll head north to unlock the magic and mystery of Teotihuacan, a 2,000-year-old city where you’ll explore the pyramids of the Sun and the Moon and stroll down the Avenue of the Dead. Immerse yourself in the pre-Hispanic structures and ruins that echo the city's rich history. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and stop at the Shrine of Guadalupe, a monumental tribute to Mexico's deep faith in the Virgin of Guadalupe, on the journey back. (B/L)
Day 4
Oaxaca
Leaving Mexico City, you’ll pass photogenic, snow-capped volcanoes before stopping at Santa Maria Tonantzintla to explore its stunning temple decorated by Indigenous people. In Puebla, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the “City of Angels”, you’ll visit the Rosary Chapel, the cathedral, the main square and the beautiful historic centre. Your adventure continues to Oaxaca, renowned as one of Mexico’s most picturesque colonial towns and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. (B/D)
Day 5
Oaxaca
Your walking tour of Oaxaca will include important landmarks such as the Santo Domingo Church, one the best examples of the Baroque style in Mexico. Wander through Oaxaca’s famous markets and browse the stalls of clothing, flowers, fruits and vegetables, meat and fish, cheeses, fruit drinks and even fried grasshoppers! This afternoon, travel to the countryside to visit a Zapotecan cooperative set up by 13 local women who create alebrijes, mythical figures important in Oaxacan culture. Our visit will support the cooperative’s goal of passing on this traditional craftwork to future generations, allowing them to preserve the fascinating art form and create ongoing local employment. Day 6
Salina Cruz
This morning, visit Monte Alban, founded around 500 AD and one of the area’s first cities. See the Main Plaza, the Ball Court and various tombs. Afterwards, settle in for a very scenic journey to the town of Salina Cruz, close to the Pacific Coast. (B)
Day 7
San Cristobal
Today journey to the state capital of Chiapas, Tuxtla Gutierrez. The highlight will be a boat tour of Sumidero Canyon where you’ll marvel at stunning sheer cliffs and rock formations. You may spot crocodiles, spider monkeys and a variety of bird species on the banks of the Grijalva River. After the boat tour, pass through the historically significant town Chiapa de Corzo before reaching San Cristobal de las Casas. (B)
Day 8
San Cristobal
Explore the highlands of Chiapas and the Indigenous villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan. Both communities have a complex ethnic composition that demonstrate various customs and beliefs, both pagan and Christian. Arrive in San Cristobal with free time in the afternoon to relax or explore the colourful market, the cathedral and the memorable Jade Museum. (B)
Day 9
Palenque
Visit the beautiful waterfalls of Agua Azul to see how their high mineral content colours the waters a brilliant turquoise. You’ll have time to experience the jungle environment and perhaps enjoy a swim before continuing through the lush jungle to Palenque. (B/D)
Day 10
Campeche
The archaeological zone of Palenque is one of the most important in the Mayan world. Known as Lakamha by the ancient Maya, the region flourished and prospered in the 7th century, especially during the reign of King Pakal, whose tomb is in the Temple of the Inscriptions, one of Palenque’s most iconic landmarks. Enjoy a guided visit of this ruined city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admire the impressive architecture, exquisite sculptures and carvings all within a breathtaking natural environment. You’ll then head to Campeche, a charming town full of Spanish baroque architecture, aging beauty and an important naval history. Take a panoramic tour of the city and see how recent restorations of historical buildings have made Campeche one of the most photogenic colonial towns in all of Mexico. (B)
Day 11
Merida
Today begins with a visit to Uxmal, which translates to “built three times”. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is considered one of the best representations of the Puuc style, the Mayan region’s most dominant architectural style. Explore the Pyramid of the Magician, the Quadrangle of the Nuns, the Governor’s palace and the ball game court. After, you’ll travel on to Merida for a panoramic tour of the beautiful “White City”. The capital of the Yucatan, Merida blends Maya culture with stunning Spanish colonial architecture, lovely parks and delicious cuisine. (B)
Day 12
Cancun
Chichen Itza, one of the largest and most prominent Maya cities and undoubtedly the best-preserved Maya site on the Yucatan peninsula, was recently declared one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Your visit here includes landmarks like the Temple of Kukulkan, the Platform of the Skulls and the Sacred Cenote. After your explorations, arrive in Cancun for the next two nights. (B/L/T)
Day 13
Cancun
It’s time to indulge in a day of pure relaxation in Cancun, where turquoise waters and powdery white sands beckon. Wake up to a stunning sunrise over the Caribbean Sea and savour a leisurely breakfast. Lounge under swaying palm trees on the beach, take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters and bask in the tropical sunshine. As the day turns to dusk, toast to the mesmerizing sunset with a refreshing cocktail before you enjoy your farewell dinner. (B/D)

Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your return flight back to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)
