Awe-Inspiring Northern Iceland & Northern Lights
Activity Level: Moderate. Chase the Northern Lights and explore majestic waterfalls, wildlife, glaciers and geysers on this unforgettable 10-day adventure through Iceland.
Day 1
Depart on your overnight flight from Toronto or Winnipeg to Reykjavik.
Day 2
Reykjavik – Arrive and transfer to the Viking Museum for breakfast, then unwind at the Sky Lagoon thermal spa. Enjoy lunch before heading to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B/L)
Day 3
Reykjavik – Today you’ll enjoy your Extraordinary Experience—a guided breathwork session with Andri, designed to enhance relaxation and well-being while promoting balance and renewal. (B)
Day 4
Borgarnes – Travel west to Borgarnes to explore Iceland’s early history at the Settlement Centre. Visit the Saga Valley, climb the Grábrók volcano crater and see Europe’s most powerful hot spring. Witness cascading lava waterfalls before an evening Northern Lights lecture and viewing. (B/D/S)
Day 5
Borgarnes – Discover the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, a miniature version of Iceland’s diverse landscapes. Visit Grundarfjörður, the iconic Kirkjufell mountain and explore Vatnshellir Cave’s lava tube. Return to Borgarnes for another chance to witness the Northern Lights, followed by a soak in the hotel’s hot tubs. (B/D/S)
Day 6
Hella – Travel the Golden Circle, visiting Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal fields, and Gullfoss waterfall. Enjoy a geothermal tasting experience and learn about Icelandic horses before reaching your accommodations in South Iceland. Tonight, search for the Northern Lights. (B/T/D/S)
Day 7
Kirkjubæjarklaustur – Venture along the South Coast, stopping at the Lava & Volcano Exhibition Centre, Skógafoss waterfall and the black sand beaches of Reynisfjara. Stay near Kirkjubæjarklaustur, a prime location for Northern Lights viewing. (B/D/S)
Day 8
Kirkjubæjarklaustur – Explore glaciers, icebergs, and Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, where you may spot seals. Walk along Diamond Beach and visit Europe’s largest national park. In the evening, watch a Northern Lights film and stay alert for another sighting. (B/D/S)
Day 9
Reykjavík – Cross the Eldhraun lava field to Vík for a photo stop, then visit Seljalandsfoss waterfall. In the afternoon, embark on a whale watching tour from Reykjavík, where you may see minke whales, humpbacks and porpoises. (B/D)
Day 10
Transfer to Reykjavik airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)

Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Day 1

Day 2
Reykjavik
Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to the Viking Museum for breakfast. Then, relax at the Sky Lagoon, a thermal spa inspired by Icelandic culture. Enjoy lunch at the Sky Café before transferring to your hotel, with the rest of the day at leisure. (B/L)
Day 3
Reykjavik
Today you’ll enjoy your Extraordinary Experience, a breathwork session with Andri, perfect for both beginners and experienced practitioners. Begin with an introduction to breathwork benefits, followed by guided exercises and deep relaxation. In a world of rising stress and burnout, this practice promotes long-term well-being and optimizes performance. (B)
Day 4
Borgarnes
Travel west to Borgarnes and learn about Iceland’s early history at the Settlement Centre. Continue to Borgarfjörður, known as the Saga Valley, to climb the Grábrók volcano crater and visit Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. See Hraunfossar, a series of waterfalls flowing from a lava field, and Barnafoss, known for its tragic legend. Enjoy a Northern Lights lecture in the afternoon, then after dinner step into the hotel garden to look for the Northern Lights. (B/D/S)
Day 5
Borgarnes
Explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, “the peninsula of the snowy mountain” and a microcosm of Iceland’s diverse landscapes. Visit the fishing village of Grundarfjörður and admire the iconic Kirkjufell mountain. Stop at Arnarstapi and Hellnar before venturing inside Vatnshellir Cave, descending 35 metres underground into a lava tube. On the way back to Borgarnes, you’ll get some practical tips on how to photograph the Northern Lights before heading outside to chase them again, followed by a soak in the hotel’s outdoor hot tubs. Day 6
Hella
Travel along the Hvalfjörður fjord, stopping at an Icelandic wool outlet before continuing to Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Follow the Golden Circle route to the Geysir geothermal fields and enjoy a geothermal tasting of freshly baked hot spring bread with Icelandic butter, boiled eggs and herring at Restaurant Geysir. Visit Gullfoss waterfall, learn about the Icelandic horse and explore a geothermal greenhouse before reaching your accommodations in South Iceland. Tonight, step into the dark stillness of rural Iceland in search of the Northern Lights. (B/T/D/S)
Day 7
Kirkjubæjarklaustur
Venture along the South Coast, stopping at the Lava & Volcano Exhibition Centre to learn about Iceland’s geology and active volcanoes. Visit a renowned folk museum showcasing historical farm artefacts and turf-built houses. See the impressive 60-metre-high Skógafoss waterfall before strolling along Reynisfjara’s black lava beach and bird cliffs. Spend two nights near Kirkjubæjarklaustur in the Vatnajökull National Park region, an ideal setting for Northern Lights viewing. (B/D/S)
Day 8
Kirkjubæjarklaustur
Spend the day exploring glaciers, ice and icebergs. Visit Jökulsárlón, a glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs, where you may spot seals swimming in Arctic waters. Walk along the black sand of Diamond Beach, where icebergs wash ashore and break apart. Stop at the tiny turf church in Hof and explore Europe’s largest national park, home to Iceland’s highest mountains and largest glacier. In the evening, watch a film on the Northern Lights and stay alert for another chance to witness them. (B/D/S)
Day 9
Reykjavík
Journey across the Eldhraun lava field to the village of Vík for a photo stop at the awe-inspiring black lava beach and towering cliffs. Further west we reach Seljalandsfoss, a high, narrow waterfall cascading from the mountains. In the afternoon, embark on a whale watching tour from Reykjavík, where you may spot minke whales, humpbacks, porpoises and dolphins among Iceland’s thriving bird life. (B/D)

Transfer to Reykjavik airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)
