Ponta da Piedade Boat Cruise and Lunch

Algarve Extended Stay
Activity Level: Moderate. Enjoy a relaxed 24-day extended stay in Portugal’s Algarve, with guided highlights, coastal scenery and plenty of time to savour life in Lagos.
Day 1
Depart Toronto or Winnipeg on your overnight flight to Faro.
Day 2
Faro – Arrive and meet your tour director before transferring to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure until your welcome dinner this evening. (D)
Day 3
Lagos – This morning is free to explore on your own. In the afternoon, transfer to Lagos and check into your hotel. Your coach will then take the group to a local supermarket to stock up on essentials for your extended stay. (B)
Day 4
Lagos – Discover Lagos on a guided walking tour of this historic coastal town, once the regional capital from 1576 to 1756 and an important centre during the Age of Discoveries. Wander along preserved city walls, narrow lanes and whitewashed houses, and visit landmarks including Infante D. Henrique Square, the Old Slave Market and the dramatic cliffs of Ponta da Piedade. Continue to Sagres, a rugged headland shaped by wind and sea, where you’ll visit the 16th-century Sagres Fortress and take in sweeping views from Cape St. Vincent. Dinner is served at a local restaurant. (B/D)
Day 5
Lagos – Begin the day with a scenic boat tour of Ponta da Piedade, offering striking views of the Algarve’s cliffs and clear waters. A light lunch is included. The afternoon is free to explore Lagos or relax at your own pace. This evening, reconnect with fellow travellers at an informal cocktail reception. (B/L/S)
Day 6 - 23
Lagos – Settle into life in Lagos and enjoy the freedom of an extended stay. Located near Dona Ana Beach and the historic centre, your hotel offers an ideal base for independent exploration. The concierge is available to assist with optional activities such as golf, wine tastings and cultural outings. (B)
Day 24
Transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (B)

Extraordinary Explorations vacations are organized and booked by CAA Travel (South Central Ontario) Inc. and CAA Manitoba (“CAA Travel”) on behalf of CAA Club Group (o/a CAA South Central Ontario and CAA Manitoba). In the event of an increase in any of the cost factors, CAA Travel reserves the right to increase the price whereby the provisions of the Travel Industry Act shall prevail. Deposit is non-refundable at the time of booking. Final payment is due 120 days before departure. CAA Extraordinary Explorations packages are 100% non-refundable at final payment. CAA Travel service fee for cancellation prior to final payment varies by program. For full payment terms and conditions, please ask your CAA Travel Consultant. CAA Travel reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements (minimum number of participants) or circumstances beyond its control. Additional fees for checked luggage or other incidentals may be incurred and vary according to itinerary and airline. Air schedules with some tours are not available at press time and may include several connections or forced overnight at passenger’s expense. CAA Travel strongly recommends the purchase of trip cancellation and emergency travel and emergency medical insurance at the time of booking.
Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Day 4
Lagos
Enjoy a guided walking tour of Lagos, the former capital of the region from 1576 to 1756. This charming coastal town has preserved its traditional character, with historic walls, narrow lanes and whitewashed houses. Lagos played a key role during the Age of Discoveries, as many expeditions to Africa departed from its port. Your tour includes highlights such as the city walls, Infante D. Henrique Square —home to the statue of Henry the Navigator—and the Old Slave Market, the first of its kind in Europe. You’ll also visit the stunning cliffs and rock formations of Ponta da Piedade. After lunch on your own, your journey continues to Sagres, a dramatic headland shaped by wind and sea. This remote point at the southwestern tip of Europe is steeped in history and emotion. Visit the Sagres Fortress, built in the 16th century, and take in the sweeping views from Cape St. Vincent, long considered a sacred site. Finish the day with dinner at a local restaurant. (B/D)

Start your morning with a scenic boat tour of Ponta da Piedade, where breathtaking cliffs and crystal-clear waters await. A light lunch is included to keep you refreshed. The afternoon is yours to enjoy and explore Lagos at your leisure or simply relax.
