Authentic Italian Risotto Lesson
A boat ride across scenic Lake Como sets the stage for this memorable culinary experience. Arriving at a charming lakeside restaurant, you’ll step into the kitchen with a local chef to master the art of making the perfect risotto. From selecting the freshest ingredients to perfecting the creamy texture, you’ll learn the traditional techniques behind this Italian staple. Stunning Lake Como
Activity Level: Active. Immerse yourself in Northern Italy’s breathtaking lakes, charming villages and rich history on this 10-day tour through Como, Bellagio and Milan.
Day 1
Depart on an overnight flight from Toronto or Winnipeg to Milan.
Day 2
Como – Arrive in Milan, meet your tour escort and transfer by coach to Como. Check in and enjoy free time before tonight’s welcome dinner. (D)
Day 3
Como – Discover Como’s rich medieval history on a guided walking tour. Visit the stunning Cathedral before enjoying free time. Group dinner at a local restaurant. (B/D)
Day 4
Como – Varenna – Tour Villa Carlotta, an 18th-century estate with breathtaking gardens and lake views. Ferry to Varenna for a guided tour and lunch, then take a boat tour of Lake Como to see hidden villas and coves. Return to Como for dinner. (B/L/D)
Day 5
Como – Lake Lugano – Explore Lugano, located on the border of Switzerland and Italy. Walk the Olive Trail with stunning lake views, then visit Gandria village. Travel by boat to a lakeside grotto restaurant for a hands-on risotto workshop, followed by lunch. Enjoy free time before returning to Como. (B/L)
Day 6
Como – Maggiore Lake – Set out for a full-day guided tour of Maggiore Lake and the Borromean Islands. Visit Isola Bella, Isola Madre and Isola dei Pescatori. Return to Como in the evening. (B/L)
Day 7
Como – Bellagio – Board the ferry to Bellagio for a guided visit to the “Pearl of Lake Como.” Stroll its charming streets, visit Villa Melzi d’Eril and its landscaped gardens and enjoy free time before returning to Como for a group dinner. (B/D)
Day 8
Como – Enjoy your last day in Como at leisure. (B)
Day 9
Milan – Transfer to your hotel in Milan, then head out for a guided city tour. Explore landmarks like the Duomo, Castello Sforzesco, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and the world-renowned La Scala Theatre. Gather for a farewell dinner to toast the journey. (B/D)
Day 10
After breakfast, transfer to Milan Airport for your return flight home. (B)

Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Day 1

Day 2
Como
Arrive in Milan and meet your tour escort before transferring by coach to Como. Check in at your hotel with the remaining day at leisure. Tonight, gather with the group for a welcome dinner at the hotel. (D)
Day 3
Como
Meet with a local guide for a walking tour of Como, a city founded by the Romans and framed by medieval walls. Stroll along the waterfront to admire elegant villas and 20th-century architectural landmarks. Wander through charming squares, each filled with historic charm, and visit the city’s highlight—the stunning Cathedral, famous for its Gothic and Renaissance features. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure before your group dinner at a local restaurant. (B/D)
Day 4
Como – Varenna
Travel by coach to Villa Carlotta, an 18th-century estate on Lake Como known for its exquisite gardens, sculptures and breathtaking views. It was built for the Milanese marquis Giorgio Clerici in 1690 and extends over a 70,000 m2 area in Tremezzo, facing the Bellagio peninsula. Continue by ferry to Varenna, a postcard-perfect village with pastel-coloured houses and the Passeggiata degli Innamorati, a romantic lakeside walkway. Enjoy a guided tour, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, take to the water for a scenic boat tour of Lake Como, discovering hidden coves and grand villas only visible from the lake. Return to Como for a group dinner. (B/L/D)
Day 5
Como – Lake Lugano
Today is a full-day tour of Lugano, located on the border where Switzerland meets Italy. Meet your local guide and begin with a walk along the Olive Trail with views of Lake Lugano, followed by a short tour of Grandria village. Then, board a boat to the Grotto Restaurant for your Extraordinary Experience: a hands-on risotto workshop, followed by lunch. Later, you’ll ride by boat to Lugano to explore the elegant city centre before transferring back to Como. (B/L)
Day 6
Como – Maggiore Lake
Set out for a full-day guided tour of Maggiore Lake and the enchanting Borromean Islands. You’ll visit Isola Bella, home to a magnificent Baroque palace and elaborate gardens, and Isola Madre, famed for its botanical collection of over 2,000 different species. Stop at Isola dei Pescatori, a picturesque fishing village, and take in the beauty of this island-studded lake before returning to Como. (B/L)
Day 7
Como – Bellagio
Board the ferry to Bellagio for a guided visit to the “Pearl of Lake Como.” Perched at the tip of the peninsula dividing the lake, this elegant town is famous for its winding streets and breathtaking views. Visit the historical centre before proceeding to Villa Melzi d’Eril, an early 19th-century estate with landscaped gardens. Enjoy free time to explore Bellagio before boarding the ferry back to Como. Tonight, enjoy a group dinner at a local restaurant. (B/D)

Como
Spend your final day in Como at leisure. Relax by the lake, explore more of the town, or simply take in the scenery at your own pace. (B)
Day 9
Milan
Transfer by coach to your hotel in Milan, where you’ll drop your luggage before setting out on a guided city tour. Known as the capital city of economy, fashion and design, Milan is also a vibrant hub for art, history and culture. Discover iconic landmarks including the Duomo, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, Castello Sforzesco, the Galleria Vitgtorio Emanuele II and the world-famous La Scala Theatre. Celebrate your journey tonight with a farewell dinner. (B/D)
Day 10
After breakfast, transfer to Milan Airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)
