Traditional East Coast Kitchen Party
Embrace the beloved East Coast tradition of an authentic kitchen party. Typically held in a neighbour’s kitchen, it’s a celebration of life and friendship and a whole lot of fun! Legendary Landscapes of Newfoundland and Labrador
Activity Level: Moderate. This 10-day tour of Newfoundland and Labrador will introduce you to its ancient history through unforgettable landscapes and cultural experiences.
Day 1
Deer Lake – Depart from Toronto or Winnipeg to Deer Lake. Upon arrival, meet your tour director and transfer to your hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 2
Cow Head – Travel through Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the town of Cow Head. Tonight, enjoy a group dinner. (B/D)
Day 3
Cow Head – Enjoy a scenic boat tour on the Bonne Bay fjord. Walk upon the Earth’s exposed mantle at the Tablelands. (B/L/D)
Day 4
Battle Harbour – This morning, travel to Battle Harbour, the economic and social
centre of the southeastern Labrador coast for two centuries. (B/D)
Day 5
Battle Harbour – Take a guided walking tour of the settlement in the morning to learn its fascinating history from a local. In the afternoon, enjoy a two-hour cruise along the rugged coastline. (B/L/D)
Day 6
L’Anse au Clair – Today, ferry to Labrador and visit the Red Bay National Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was once a Basque Whaling Station. Visit Point Amour Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in Atlantic Canada. (B/D)
Day 7
St. Anthony – This morning, ferry back to the mainland and travel to L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site. Learn about the Vikings and their history in the area. For dinner tonight, enjoy a unique Viking Feast. (B/D)
Day 8
Port au Choix – Travel to Port au Choix to tour the historic fishing community that has been inhabited for 5,500 years, then visit the Port au Choix National Historic Site. (B/L/D)
Day 9
Deer Lake – Visit the Newfoundland Insectarium, a world-class nature museum. Later today is your Extraordinary Experience, a kitchen party featuring lively East Coast musical entertainment. (B/D)
Day 10
Transfer to the Deer Lake Airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)

Extraordinary Explorations vacations are organized and booked by CAA Travel (South Central Ontario) Inc. and CAA Manitoba (“CAA Travel”) on behalf of CAA Club Group (o/a CAA South Central Ontario and CAA Manitoba). In the event of an increase in any of the cost factors, CAA Travel reserves the right to increase the price whereby the provisions of the Travel Industry Act shall prevail. CAA Extraordinary Explorations packages are 100% non-refundable at final payment. CAA Travel service fee for cancellation prior to final payment varies by program. CAA Travel reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements (minimum number of participants) or circumstances beyond its control. Air schedules with some tours are not available at press time and may include several connections or forced overnight at passenger’s expense. Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Day 2
Cow Head
Today, travel through Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the town of Cow Head. Check into your accommodations for a two-night stay. Tonight, enjoy a group dinner. (B/D)
Day 3
Cow Head
Discover why Gros Morne National Park is truly one of the highlights of your trip with a scenic boat tour on Bonne Bay. Be on the lookout for bald eagles that frequent the deep waters of the saltwater fjord. Walk upon the Earth’s mantle, normally found far below the planet’s surface, at the Tablelands. The unique scenery today at Gros Morne is unequaled in Atlantic Canada. (B/L/D)
Day 4
Battle Harbour
This morning, travel to St. Barbe and ferry to Blanc Sablon, Que., minutes from Labrador. Continue to Mary’s Harbour and ferry to Battle Harbour, a living commemoration of the life and society of Labradorians during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Situated on a small, near-shore island, Battle Harbour was the economic and social centre of the southeastern Labrador coast for two centuries. Today, it is one of the most magical destinations to be found anywhere and it is your home for the next two nights. (B/D)
Day 5
Battle Harbour
This morning, take a guided walking tour of the settlement and learn the fascinating history from a local who was born and raised on the island. In the afternoon, enjoy a leisurely two-hour cruise along the rugged coastline to view several smaller fishing villages still active today. (B/L/D)
Day 6
L’Anse au Clair
Today, ferry to Labrador and visit the Red Bay National Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which was once a Basque Whaling Station. On the way to L’Anse au Clair, visit Point Amour Lighthouse, the tallest lighthouse in Atlantic Canada. (B/D)
Day 7
St. Anthony
This morning, ferry back to the mainland and travel to L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site. Learn about the Vikings and their history in the area dating back 1,000 years. For dinner tonight, enjoy a unique Viking Feast to fully immerse yourself in the Viking heritage. (B/D)
Day 8
Port au Choix
Travel from St. Anthony to Port au Choix to tour the historic fishing community. The Port au Choix Peninsula juts slightly out into the Gulf of St. Lawrence on Newfoundland’s northwest coast and has been inhabited for 5,500 years. Visit the Port au Choix National Historic Site to learn about the culture and history before heading to your hotel for the evening. (B/L/D)
Day 9
Deer Lake
Travel to Deer Lake today to enjoy your final day in Newfoundland. Your first stop of the day is the Newfoundland Insectarium, a world-class nature museum featuring a butterfly garden. Later today is your Extraordinary Experience, a farewell dinner and a kitchen party featuring lively East Coast musical entertainment. (B/D)
Day 10
Say goodbye to your tour director as you transfer to the Deer Lake Airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)
