Activity Level: Active. Journey through Newfoundland’s rugged coastlines, historic towns and stunning national parks on a 9-day tour where nature and culture come alive.
Day 1
Deer Lake – Fly from Toronto or Winnipeg to Deer Lake, then transfer to your hotel and settle in for the night.
Day 2
Cow Head –Take a short city tour of Corner Brook, with time to grab lunch or a snack. Then, travel through Gros Morne National Park to Cow Head, where you’ll stay for two nights. (B/D)
Day 3
Cow Head – Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Newfoundland’s highlights and offers unmatched scenery. Cruise Bonne Bay, watching for bald eagles, then visit the Tablelands, a striking mountain of ancient rock. (B/BL/D)
Day 4
Gander – Have your camera ready as you leave Gros Morne and head through Central Newfoundland to Gander. Known as the inspiration for Come from Away, Gander is famous for its hospitality after the attacks of September 11, 2001. Visit the North Atlantic Aviation Museum to learn about its role in transatlantic aviation. (B)
Day 5
Clarenville – Follow the rugged coast to Twillingate, where you’ll visit Long Point Lighthouse and the Prime Berth Fishery & Heritage Centre. Keep your eye out for icebergs, then travel through Terra Nova National Park to Clarenville. (B/L/D)
Day 6
Clarenville – Step back in time in Bonavista, where John Cabot landed in 1497. Visit Cape Bonavista Lighthouse before continuing to Trinity, a beautifully preserved 18th-century town. (B/L/D)
Day 7
St. John’s – Head to St. John’s, North America’s oldest city and Newfoundland’s capital. Explore its Victorian architecture, busy waterfront and landmarks like the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Confederation Building and Signal Hill. (B/D)
Day 8
St. John’s – Enjoy a boat tour (weather permitting) in Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, home to puffins and seabirds. Then, visit Cape Spear, the most easterly point in North America. Spend the afternoon at leisure before attending an authentic East Coast Kitchen Party for your Extraordinary Experience. (B/D)
Day 9
Transfer to the St. John’s airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)

Extraordinary Explorations vacations are organized and booked by CAA Travel (South Central Ontario) Inc. and CAA Manitoba (“CAA Travel”) on behalf of CAA Club Group (o/a CAA South Central Ontario and CAA Manitoba). In the event of an increase in any of the cost factors, CAA Travel reserves the right to increase the price whereby the provisions of the Travel Industry Act shall prevail. CAA Extraordinary Explorations packages are 100% non-refundable at final payment. CAA Travel service fee for cancellation prior to final payment varies by program. For full payment terms and conditions, please ask your CAA Travel Consultant. CAA Travel reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements (minimum number of participants) or circumstances beyond its control. Additional fees for checked luggage or other incidentals may be incurred and vary according to itinerary and airline. Air schedules with some tours are not available at press time and may include several connections or forced overnight at passenger’s expense. CAA Travel strongly recommends the purchase of trip cancellation and emergency travel and emergency medical insurance at the time of booking.
Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Day 1
Deer Lake
Depart from Toronto or Winnipeg on your flight to Deer Lake, where you’ll transfer to your hotel and settle in for the night.
Day 2
Cow Head
Start the day with a short city tour of Corner Brook, with time to purchase lunch or a snack. Then, travel through the breathtaking landscapes of Gros Morne National Park on your way to Cow Head, where you’ll stay for the next two nights. (B/D)
Day 3
Cow Head
Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is truly one of the highlights of Newfoundland. Today, you’ll take in its beauty on a scenic boat tour of Bonne Bay as you keep an eye out for the bald eaglesthat frequent the fjord. Then, visit the Tablelands, an awe-inspiring mountain of flat-topped rock normally found deep in the earth's mantle. Some say the scenery in Gros Morne is unmatched in Eastern Canada, and it’s sure to be a day to remember. (B/BL/D)
Day 4
Gander
Have your camera ready as you say goodbye to Gros Morne and head through Central Newfoundland to Gander. Known as the inspiration for the Broadway hit Come from Away, Gander is famous for the kindness of its residents, who welcomed stranded travellers when 38 airplanes had to unexpectedly land there after the attacks of September 11, 2001. Visit the North Atlantic Aviation Museum to learn about Gander’s fascinating role in the development of transatlantic aviation. (B)
Day 5
Clarenville
A scenic drive along the rocky coast of Notre Dame Bay leads to the beautiful outport of Twillingate. Visit Long Point Lighthouse and the Prime Berth Fishery & Heritage Centre, where you’ll learn about Newfoundland’s maritime heritage and perhaps see some icebergs drifting past. Keep your camera ready for wildlife as you drive through Terra Nova National Park and on to Clarenville, your home for the next two nights. (B/L/D)
Day 6
Clarenville
Step back in time as you explore two quaint, historic towns. First, visit Bonavista, where John Cabot made landfall in 1497. Learn about the hard life of lighthouse keepers at Cape Bonavista Lighthouse Provincial Historic Site before continuing to charming Trinity. Wander its winding lanes and admire the beautifully preserved 18th-century buildings. (B/L/D)
Day 7
St. John’s
Head to St. John’s, North America’s oldest city and the vibrant capital of Newfoundland. Nestled in the dramatic cliffs of the Avalon Peninsula, this historic seaport is full of character. Enjoy a guided tour showcasing the city’s blend of Victorian architecture, bustling waterfront and landmarks like the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Confederation Building and Signal Hill, where you’ll take in sweeping harbour views. St. John’s
This morning, visit Bay Bulls for one of the highlights of your trip, a boat tour (weather permitting) in the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve to search for puffins and other seabirds. Next is a visit to the most easterly point in North America, Cape Spear National Historic Site. The afternoon is yours to explore St. John's at your leisure before attending an authentic East Coast Kitchen Party for your Extraordinary Experience. (B/D)
