Traditional East Coast Kitchen Party

Nova Scotia Featuring the Tattoo
Activity Level: Moderate. Explore Halifax’s history and culture on a 5-day trip including Peggy’s Cove, Lunenburg and VIP tickets to the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo.
Day 1
Halifax – Depart Toronto or Winnipeg to Halifax. Upon arrival, meet your kilted tour director and transfer by motor coach to your hotel. Along the way, learn about the Halifax Explosion and the city’s role in the recovery operations after the Titanic disaster. Enjoy a welcome dinner this evening. (D)
Day 2
Halifax – Travel to the unique fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. The tiny harbour below the lighthouse is a masterpiece of seasoned fish sheds and colourful fishing boats, making it one of the most photographed places in Canada. Travel to Mahone Bay, home to many artisans and famous for its scenic views. Continue to Old Town Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, board the Eastern Star for a sailboat tour of the Lunenburg Harbour. (B/L)
Day 3
Halifax – This morning, enjoy a tour of The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, the oldest and largest maritime museum in Canada with a collection of over 30,000 artifacts. Later today, you’ll be taken on a private tour of the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. (B)
Day 4
Halifax – Take a ferry to Georges Island, where the Halifax Defence Complex’s Fort Charlotte is located. Explore the underground tunnels and trails around the island and enjoy a picnic lunch. Return to the mainland to get ready for your Extraordinary Experience: attending an evening performance of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo as a VIP. The Tattoo is a 10-day event featuring more than 2,000 of the world’s best military and civilian performers including military bands, pipes and drums, choirs, dancers and military displays. This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner. (B/BL/D)
Day 5
Enjoy the morning at leisure before you transfer to the Halifax airport for your return flight to Toronto or Winnipeg. (B)

Extraordinary Explorations vacations are organized and booked by CAA Travel (South Central Ontario) Inc. and CAA Manitoba (“CAA Travel”) on behalf of CAA Club Group (o/a CAA South Central Ontario and CAA Manitoba). In the event of an increase in any of the cost factors, CAA Travel reserves the right to increase the price whereby the provisions of the Travel Industry Act shall prevail. CAA Extraordinary Explorations packages are 100% non-refundable at final payment. CAA Travel service fee for cancellation prior to final payment varies by program. Please note: Participants must be able to embark and disembark cruise ships and coaches without assistance as well as have a good level of mobility for walking tours in destinations where stairs and traditional cobblestone streets can be challenging. International transportation vehicles and facilities may not meet accessibility standards.

Be sure to see the sculpture carved in the granite rock by well-known artist William De Garthe. Travel to Mahone Bay, home to many artisans and famous for its scenic views. Continue to Old Town Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After lunch, board the Eastern Star for a sailboat tour of the Lunenburg Harbour. (B/L)

Halifax
This morning, enjoy a tour of The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, the oldest and largest maritime museum in Canada with a collection of over 30,000 artifacts. Later today you’ll be taken on a private tour of the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. The museum occupies part of Pier 21, the former ocean liner terminal and immigration shed that operated from 1928 to 1971. (B)

Halifax
Ferry over to Georges Island, home to Fort Charlotte. Part of the Halifax Defence Complex, this fort played a part in the American Revolution and Second World War. Explore the underground tunnels and trails around the island and enjoy a picnic lunch. Return to the mainland to get ready for your Extraordinary Experience: attending an evening performance of the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo as a VIP. The Tattoo is a 10-day event featuring more than 2,000 of the world’s best military and civilian performers including military bands, pipes and drums, choirs, dancers and military displays. Writer Glen Hancock once described it as “Folies Bergère, the Dumbbells, the Navy Show, Disneyland and the Charge of the Light Brigade all rolled into one.” This evening, enjoy a farewell dinner.
